Infancy is a time of rapid growth and development that begins after birth and lasts up to two years of age. Throughout this stage, the child is still very dependent on parents and family members.
Childhood lasts from about the age of two until about the age of twelve. During this stage a person develops a large number of skills, including language, social skills (such as making friends), gender roles, play skills (such as sharing, cooperation and team skills), the refinement and expansion of movement skills, and continuing growth in height, weight and all body structures.
